Introduction
The Experience AFL program has been developed to be used in upper high school classes to provide students with an opportunity to learn key AFL related skills. The program aims to:
• Educate students on the rules of Australian Football
• Teach students the skills of Australian Football
• Provide students with the skills to coach Australian Football
• Provide students with the skills to umpire Australian Football
Target Ages
Years 9 to 12
Length of the Program
The program runs for a minimum of six weeks. This time will be equally distributed among the following key aspects in the management of Australian Football:
• Skill Development
• Coaching
• Umpiring
Staff Time
This program is fully resourced by the AFL(NSW/ACT)
Practical Component
As part of the program students are expected to complete a practical activity. This will involve instructing a younger age group how to execute AFL skills and play a game. Part of this game play is how to umpire Australian Football.
