AFL NSW/ACT is pleased to offer a Level 1 Coaching Course for Tafe students in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. AFL NSW/ACT recognises the importance of providing professional development opportunities for tertiary students for the continued growth of the code.

Content of Level 1 Coaching Course
Students will complete an AFL Level 1 coaching accreditation which includes the following topics:
• Roles of the coach
• Game sense theory and practical
• Officiating
• Planning and organisation of a training session
• Communication
• Rules and Skills of Australian Football
• Making sport fun and inclusive
Scheduling
There are two ways in which the course can be scheduled:
• Option 1: Two days – 6 hours each day
• Option 2: Four days – 3 hours each day
* To receive national accreditation students are required to complete a total of 12 hours.
Resources for Participants
As part of the program participants will receive a Level 1 AFL Auskick Manual, a student practical workbook (including professional development information) and other resources to assist them in the implementation of an Australian Football program.
Practical Requirements
To attain the Level 1 accreditation students are required to complete 20 hours of practical activity assisting in AFL NSW/ACT game development staff in delivery of AFL activities. The structure of the practical program will be designed in consultation between AFL NSW/ACT and TAFE staff to ensure key learning outcomes are achieved. Students will be provided feedback by game development staff and teachers as part of the practical requirement.
