AFL Community Club

The AFL Community Club at aflcommunityclub.com.au offers leagues, clubs, teams, administrators, players and everyone involved in Australian Football with a wealth of information and resources to run their clubs, develop the game, attract volunteers, coach their teams and ensure that the experience is as rich and enjoyable for everyone concerned.

“Supporting community football is extremely important to the AFL, as it’s the corner stone of the game,” says Dean Warren, AFL Community Development Manager. “The new AFL Community Club site is an exciting new vehicle for us.

“The game at community level is managed by the contribution of many thousands of passionate and dedicated volunteers. They are critical to the growth and future prosperity of the game as they determine the quality of the club and match day environments, and hence the experience for all participants.

“The AFL understands that volunteers who administer community football are under increasing pressure due to the workload and complexity associated with running community clubs and leagues. The development of the new AFL Community Club site aims to assist Australian Football volunteers by providing a central point to access tools and resources that will make their roles easier. This launch is just the beginning; the site will continue to grow and evolve.”

The five site sections on the AFL Community Club include:

Manage Your Club: From policies and guidelines to how to make the most of marketing, this section contains everything required to run a successful community club. Bonus: the Quality Club Assessment form is now online so clubs can easily apply for their bronze accreditation.

Coach AFL:  Good coaches make good teams and all the support is here including drills, skills and tactics, how to become a coach and access to newsletters, videos and other coaching resources. Bonus: get coaching tips and advice from senior AFL coaches.

Play AFL: With all levels represented including NAB Auskick, female footballers, rec footy, international  AFL and more, this section gives players access to participation pathways  and state contacts. Bonus: the Club Locator will search for clubs close to your postcode, all ages, all levels of footy.

Umpire AFL:  With umpires being critical to the game, this section supplies everything to do with the business of umpiring such as umpire education, the Laws of the Game and videos showing umpiring best calls and blunders. Bonus: the umpiring forum is a place to discuss issues and ideas with a panel of AFL experts.

Volunteering: No club can exist without its volunteers so here’s the place to find out about volunteer recognition programs, how to become a volunteer and the many exciting roles within a club. Bonus:  clubs can now use the online nomination form to nominate their volunteers for the State Volunteer of the Year award.

With discussion forums, ask-a-question tools, club and group locators, video libraries, photo galleries and newsletter sign-up, the new AFL Community Club website is certainly offering local Australian Rules football a hub for everyone involved in the game.
