AFL NSWACT is committed to grow opportunities for females to participate in AFL and in this section of the web page you will find a variety of information to show you how. Women and girls from the ages of five to 50 can get involved in Australia’s game and we encourage you to explore the website to find a suitable option for you.
Auskick
Junior Football and Youth Girls
There are an increasing number of youth girl’s competitions developing across NSW and the ACT. Youth Girls competitions are female specific competitions aimed at introducing new players to AFL and continuing the pathway for females aged 14 to 18 years. Girls and boys can play together in junior football up until Under-14s.
Open Womens
There are women’s divisions in both AFL Canberra and AFL Sydney providing an opportunity for females aged 16 years and above to play football.
AFL Canberra
There are 10 women’s teams playing in one division at AFL Canberra with the season commencing in early April.
AFL Sydney
Sydney Women compete across two divisions with teams representing Penrith, to Wollongong, Maroubra and in between.
AFL NSWACT also encourages females to get involved is AFL as administrators, coaches, umpires and sports trainers.
